These classic Derek Roddy Signature Artist Series Pedals honor his legacy as one of the first AXiS endorsed artists. Originally released in 1995, these pedals have been slightly redesigned and updated to meet the expectations and playing standards of today’s metal drummers.
The Derek Roddy Classic Artist Series Pedals are Silver AXiS Longboard Pedals configured with an A21-CAM and a unique Derek Roddy “Deep Rocker” Spring Assembly. The Deep Rocker lowers the pivot point of the spring, resulting in a more immediate and powerful spring response and allowing the tension to increase as the beater gets closer to the drum head. These pedals are screen printed with Derek’s serpent logo as well as the classic “AXiS A21” logo and come equipped with the AXiS Detonator Trigger System pre-installed. Every Derek Roddy pedal is factory finished to Derek’s exact settings and ready to play straight from the box.
Derek Roddy stands as one of extreme metal's most influential drummers and a pioneering innovator of blast beat techniques. Growing up in a musical family in South Carolina, his early influences ranged from jazz legends Buddy Rich and Tony Williams to rock drummers like Tommy Lee and Nicko McBrain. After touring with punk pioneers Bedlam Hour, Derek's career exploded when he joined Florida's death metal scene in 1996 with Malevolent Creation. His subsequent work with groundbreaking bands including Nile and Hate Eternal cemented his reputation as an extraordinary technical drummer. Derek currently leads Serpents Rise, an instrumental extreme metal project showcasing his technical expertise.
