Walter Ariel Baum is an Argentinian musician who started his musical career in 1988, studying and playing with bands from different musical styles (rock, hip hop, reggae, metal, funk, jazz, folklore, tango), until the present. Besides taking classes with renowned professors from Buenos Aires, he studied drumming in the EMPA (Avellaneda´s School of Popular Music) and symphonic percussion in the Faculty of Music EMBA ‘Carlos Morel’ (School of Music in Fine Arts - Buenos Aires).
As a session musician, Walter shared the stage with first class international artists: Paul Bostaph, Andreas Kisser, Dave Lombardo, Marco Mineman, Kreator, and Exodus.

He realizes his passion for teaching in the year 1993, teaching private lessons in his own personal study and in different institutions. He also formed the drum professorship in in the Faculty of Music EMBA ‘Carlos Morel’ 2012. Since the year 2000 he does clinics, workshops and master classes. He works as a columnist in the prestigious Argentinian magazine ‘Bateristas al Sur’ since 2004, and Latin Drummer since 2020 with international distribution. He writes exercises, tests various products and shares pedal technique videos. He also wrote 4 didactic books ‘Doble Bombo’ (2003) Spanish / English edition, Book and Cd, ‘Mensajes en Clave’ (2006) Spanish / English edition, ‘Nivel Inicial’ (2010) Spanish / English edition, Book and Cd, ‘Técnicas de Pedal’ (2013), Spanish / English edition, Book and Dvd, currently editing my brand new book (2022).
Since he began his career, he has worked as a sessionist and drum doctor in different renowned studios with great producers from different musical styles. He also recorded 3 albums of his own project ‘Baum Intervention’: ‘Argentinian Tribute to Slayer’ (2009), ‘Romances del más allá’ (2010), ‘Death, Argentinian tribute (2017).
As a musician, he received the following awards: Aminowana 1° Prize (Band contest) (2000); Jury of ‘Summer Rock and Quilmes’ Contest (2002); Best Drummer, ‘Argentinian Tribute to Slayer’ and Best Show, ‘Baum Intervention’ (Steelfaces - Magazine) (2009); Commitment, contribution and musical career LQS 08 (Media Graphic - Radio) (2009); Best Drummer, ‘For his invaluable contribution to Argentinian heavy metal musical culture’ (Steelfaces - A Toda Máquina - Cofradia Metalica – Secretary of Culture and Education, Berazategui) (2012).
Walter fronts “Charlas con amigos”–his instagram weekly project–including interviews with local and internationals artists connected with the music. He has built and modified drum kits, snare drums, hardware, pedals and several elements of percussion.
