JOHN JR ROBINSON

INDEPENDENT "THE WORLD'S MOST RECORDED DRUMMER"


 

John was born in Creston, Iowa in 1954. Both parents, through music, had a strong effect on John. He started on piano at the age of 5 and on drums at the age of 8. John turned pro when he started his first band at the young age of 10. John received the Arion Award in high school for most outstanding musician then attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has been recognized in the top 50 of Berklee’s alumni. 

In 1978, John got his break joining the band Rufus and Chaka Khan winning his first Grammy with the hit record, "Ain't Nobody”. JR has become the most recorded drummer in history playing on over 500,000,000 records sold from artists Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Steve Winwood, Quincy Jones, We Are The World and Whitney Houston, Daft Punk, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga. JR has toured with Stanley Clarke and George Duke, and was the musical director for John Fogerty, Peter Frampton and Barbra Streisand.

JR has scored his first two films, The Bronx Boys & The Bob Einstein Story. He continues to tour with legend David Foster. To this day, JR adds his magic on many hits, movies and jingles with his recognized sound employing great time, great songs and great groove.
