SIFTING

     

    Born in 1996 in Mexico, Joey Aguirre has been playing drums since he was nine years old. By the time he was 16, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in music, so he moved to Hollywood to earn a degree in Drum Performance at Musicians Institute. After Graduating from Musicians Institute he started gigging all around the city of Los Angeles with different Artists and Projects.

    In 2016, Joey recorded with the Canada-based duo Aurganic, appearing on the band’s latest full-length release, Distant Echoes and Close Encounters.

    In November, 2017, he started playing drums for the progressive metal band Sifting (Eclipse Records). Most recently, he made his professional debut in Quito, Ecuador when Sifting opened for Tarja Turunen during her International Shadow Shows tour.

    Sifting released their third album titled The Infinite Loop in 2019 through Eclipse Records, with Joey’s technical ability on drums he has earned a rightful place in Modern Drummer Magazine and one of their singles Stop Calling Me Liberty was featured on the Devil’s Dozen on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal with Jose Mangin for five consecutive weeks. The Infinite Loop also landed them major reviews in online metal magazines Metal Injection and Blabbermouth.

    Meanwhile, Joey takes every opportunity to record new music and play live shows whenever and wherever he can, with the skills of both a session musician and live musician.
